We have attended here twice before and it had been great however after tonight (1st Jan) we left £65 lighter and disappointed 😞 Husband ordered curry, was literally a chopped chicken breast with a watery sauce no nann bread, my daughter wanted sausage, mash and peas to be told no mash so they offered chips instead, it arrived with no peas, finally I ordered Carbonara, I got bolognaise, I can assure you the order was carbonara but I didn't want to make a scene as it was my husbands birthday, bolognaise was watery, spaghetti cheap and a bit firm for my taste and no garlic bread. It was all just a bit of a disaster to be honest and I hate leaving anywhere disappointed especially when I could of cooked all the meals we ordered and alot better! We were the only others in the pub despite another couple so the atmosphere was weird too... We won't be returning.

Wanted to call in for breakfast on a Sunday morning drive so tried phoning the day before to check availability, but despite several attempts got no reply. Followed up with an e-mail and again got no reply. When we called in on the day in question and despite it not being busy, we were told. We don't do breakfast just for two. So much so for the Jack & Jill. it may boast being well appointed, but it certainly doesn't go out of its way on customer service!

Lovely little Inn, the room we had was in the roof so not the greatest for somebody on the taller side but the hosts weren't to know, unfortunately the lighting for the door was not great as a bulb was out so we had to use a torch on our phones in order to find the key hole. Additionally, the TV wasn't working in the room, we didn't let the staff know as the reception for the residential section was vacant for the whole time we were there (and we were only there for one night so it wasnt a deal breaker), there was a fair bit of road noise too which wasn't too bad over night as there was no traffic passing but in the morning it was a little noisy, however, as previously stated we were in the roof so I suspect other rooms would likely be a little quieter and it may well have just been the fact the roof was potentially a little on the thin side. Breakfast in the morning was lovely and there is a beautiful view out both the front and rear of the inn. We would definitely revisit this establishment again so it is well worth a visit!

A party of 9 of us went there for my birthday lunch. Food is excellent, however, the service leaves a lot to be desired. We were told to all order together for it to be served at the same time, which we did, 2 dinners arrived and were finished when we had to remind the chef the rest of us were still waiting! Deserts were ordered (only 3) and they were great but 1 came with ice cream instead of custard.. like I say the food was lovely but we won’t be going back.

We had an absolutely perfect stay from start to finish! The room was truly gorgeous, decorated beautifully, and completely spotless. It was so comfortable and had a lovely, cosy atmosphere—perfect for a relaxing night's sleep. To top it all off, the breakfast was amazing! We really couldn't have asked for anything better. Highly recommend!

Lovely place to stay over looking the reservoir and the food is fantastic. I’m 24 stone and greedy but I could only manage a main and my partner had to leave some of her main. I had the large haddock and I’m a big fish eater and this was very tasty not your usual frozen crap and the misses went for the chicken parmo which was very tasty but it’s huge. Staff very friendly highly recommend this place

Really lovely little spot. For such a great price, we were expecting a bit of a rough B+B but not at all. The room was modern, clean and lovely, with a gorgeous view of the reservoir. The staff were flexible with our check in times (we were coming for a wedding), all kind and helpful, and did not make us feel bad for working on four laptops between two of us (yes, sorry, we are those people) in the restaurant the next day. Oh and sausage and beans added to an eggs benedict without so much as a 'I'll have to ask the chef'? Chef's kiss!! We asked for a lot and we received it - thank you very much, we hope to stay again.

Visited on Sunday 14th September for lunch after travelling from Wales to meet family. We had booked a table and menus were placed on the table, but were told to order at the bar. After deciding what we wanted, we went up to order only to then be told that several menu items were unavailable. It would have been helpful to know this when we were seated rather than at the point of ordering. When the food arrived, five meals were brought out but only three sets of cutlery – we had to ask and then wait some time before the rest was provided. We also had to request vegetables, gravy, and salt and pepper, which again involved more waiting. One of the wine glasses was dirty and had to be replaced. On the positive side, the food itself was hot and freshly prepared, and the premises are lovely, clean, and well presented. Sadly, the service really let the experience down.

What a beautiful looking pub, the inside was also lovely. We decided to sit outside as it was a beautiful day, so overlooking Scaling Dam the view was great. We ordered some food from a very limited menu, although it was a hot day we both went for the pie of the day, which would be served with chips, peas and gravy. We waited around 40 minutes for our food to arrive, which when it did looked nice. Big fat chips an individual pie with a serving of garden peas. We were both gutted to find that the pie was corned beef, literally just corned beef, which wasn’t seasoned at all, the pie’s edge was rock solid nearly impossible to cut with a knife and fork. We paid £14.95 each for the pies, chips and peas when really it was a £7.95 meal really. The outdoor eating area is large with big round tables with benches attached which could all do with some attention. I know we won’t be rushing back for a repeat of a disappointing meal.
